a long term summer vacation

All four of my grandchildren are finished with school for the year and facing those long lazy days of summer.  I remember summer vacation days as seeming to go on and on for ever. It wasn't all fun and games of course.  I remember parts of summer days spent weeding strawberries, mopping floors, washing windows, but still there was always time to read a good book, take a nap, play outside - climbing trees, riding bikes, exploring the woods and creek and on and on.  Now I find that my days slip past so fast I hardly remember what I've done.  But in nine months I will be retired and, while I know there will still be chores to do, I'm looking forward to blocks of lazy time, time to read or nap or walk in the woods.  I'll probably pass on the bike riding, unless I get myself one of those giant tricycles.  Hmmm??? Wouldn't that be a sight.  Nooo, I don't think the world is ready for that.
