This seems a little hard on the dogs.

I admit it.  I do appreciate accuracy in the use of language, especially broadcast language, So when I heard this comment this morning on the local news in regard to the Iditarod sled dog race it made me feel sorry for the dogs.  The announcer said, regarding the dogs, "They will travel 1000 mile when the race ends."  It seems to me if the dogs have just run 1000 miles during the race, this is asking a bit much of them.  I think what she meant to say was "They will have traveled 1000 miles when the race ends."  Sorry, couldn't resist.  Maybe it's the last vestiges of editorship coming out.
