picky, picky, picky

I know I'm being picky and this is a very minor irritant, but it happens often enough to get my attention.  Heard on last nights weather report "Our current temperature right now is..."  Doesn't 'current' mean right now?  Listen carefully and you will hear this kind of redundancy many times a day.  I suspect that some reporters think that the more words they say, the smarter they sound.  I think they could fill the air space more effectively by speaking a little more slowly and enunciating more clearly.  Ouch!  Don't I sound like a grumpy old lady?  It's one of the perks of being 70.
