A wonderful weekend of theater.

Early this morning I returned from a wonderful long weekend of theater in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. The weather was rainy and cold, the food was delicious and the plays we saw were outstanding.  One Shakespeare "The Taming of the Shrew" - hilarious; one period comedy "She Stoops to Conquer" - funny play, gorgeous costumes; "The Diary of Anne Frank" - brilliantly done; and the musical "Carousel" - amazing singers and dancers.  I enjoyed every play, and as usual, I was entranced by the stage sets.  Probably my favorite piece was the white, gold and silver carousel that the actors could actually ride on.  The Anne Frank set was pure genius.  The director of our local church theater who organized this trip assured me that we could have similarly awesome stage sets if we had a stage six times as large as the one we have now and a hundred thousand dollars to spend on each set.  Sounds good to me but I think he'll have a hard time selling the idea to our church Session.
