Cannons and Kayaks

It's been an interesting weekend along the river here.  There was a fundraiser to promote river activities and several kayaks were on the water.  At the same time there was an historic reenactment at the Old Fort with lots of cannon shots, and other guns being shot off.  Yesterday I think there was a Polka competition going on because there was lively music coming from the pavilion all day. At one point in the afternoon, from the vantage point of my balcony, it looked like the kayakers were forming up to attack the fort while the settlers were fighting them off with cannon shots, billowing smoke all over, all with background music. It was like a movie.  You may think that I'm spending way too much time on my balcony and I probably am but it's such a lovely place to read a book.
