doing it the old fashioned way

Every morning I brew a pot of tea in my Mr. Coffee, tea bags in the pot, hot water dripping over, I can make enough tea to have a cup hot for breakfast and iced tea all day long. I've been doing this for some years since I prefer tea to coffee, especially in the morning. Today however tragedy struck. You know how sometimes something seems to be happening in slow motion but you're just not quite quick enough to stop it? I had filled the Mr. Coffee tank with water, pulled the carafe out and set it on the counter so I could put the tea bags in (same as every morning). As I reached in the cupboard above the counter to get the jar of tea bags I accidentally bumped a jar of syrup, as I grabbed for it I bumped the jar of tea bags (a heavy little Ball jar) which dropped on the counter at just the right angle to push the carafe off the counter onto the floor where it promptly smashed into about a thousand pieces.  It could have been worse I guess if the carafe had been full of hot tea or if the syrup had also hit the floor.
I carefully cleaned up all the glass which had spread to quite an amazing distance so now I have some really clean floors.
The problem was how to make tea without my Mr. Coffee? Of course I could make it a cup at a time in the microwave but I really like to have a lot. What to do? Then I happened to glance at my stove and realized that that decorative red item sitting on a back burner is, of all things, a whistling tea pot, so hey presto I made a pot of tea the old fashioned way. Not bad but I will be shopping for a new carafe as soon as possible.
