Antique Envy

I probably shouldn't watch Antiques Roadshow any more. I come away realizing that I will probably never fine a fabulously valuable antique among my stuff or at a garage sale somewhere. It's a little bit like being sure I will never win the Power Ball lottery. If you don't play, you can't win. Likewise, since I don't shop at flea markets, antique shops or garage sales I'm not likely to pick up a fabulousl find for five dollars. Since I no longer own a house I can't even fool myself into believing I might someday find a treasure tucked away in my attic or basement. Mind you, I did find lots of old stuff when I cleaned out my basement as part of downsizing two years ago. Sadly old -like a 1972 computer users manual - is not the same as valuable. Who am I kidding? I know I'll keep watching. Maybe soemday I'll see them value a mahogany framed mirror or an airbrushed painting form the 1940s, maybe???
