Watching the INDY 500

As I was leaving church this morning, i spoke briefly with a friend who moved here about a year ago from Las Vegas.  I asked him if he was going to watch the race this afternoon.  He said that he probably wouldn't because he wasn't into racing much.  Then he added "I suppose it's kind of a big deal though in Indiana." You could say that. I first remember hearing about the Indianapolis 500 when I was about 12. Friends of my mother's from Pennsylvania stopped to see us on their way to the race. They were driving a Corvette which impressed me as much as the idea that they were going to some big race in Indianapolis. I have never actually attended the race but I did go to the time trials once with some college friends (that would have been about 50 years ago). Yes, cars had been invented back then. I though today's race was pretty exciting. I particularly enjoyed all the different camera angles, especially the views from cameras mounted in the cars. Rest assured though, while I enjoyed the dffect of riding in a race car, I will not be tempted to race my little Fiat tomorrow. I promise, I'll be good.
